DAD, DAUGHTER LEAD WAY ON NEW FEMINIST AGENDA

-

On the road to the White House, President Trump and his daughter Ivanka vowed to fight for American women, “equal pay for equal work” and affordable child care.

In an interview with ABC in August 2015, Trump defended his business record with women, saying: “I've always had a great relationship to the women I work with. The relationship has been amazing in terms of thousands of employees, top-level employees. ... So I don't really worry about those false accusations.”

During her speech at the Republican National Convention, Ivanka Trump said: “When Donald Trump is in charge all that counts is ability, effort and excellence. This has long been the philosophy of the Trump organization. At my father's company there are more female than male executives and women are paid equally for the work that we do and when a woman becomes a mother she is supported and not shut out.”

Ivanka Trump also vowed that her father would strive to make “child care affordable and accessible for all” during her RNC speech.

During a speech in Philadelphia in September, Trump unveiled a proposal to make child care more affordable: “Nearly two in three mothers with young children have jobs. For many families in our country, child care is now the single largest expense — even more so than housing. Yet, very little meaningful policy work has been done in this area.”
