President Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin agreed to keep in touch after their first official conversation, which hit on major issues from trade to terror, according to a statement from the Kremlin.

Absent from the Russian readout of the congratulatory phone call were mentions of alleged Russian interference in the presidential election.

Regarding the crippling sanctions the U.S. and other countries levied on Moscow after its expansion in Ukraine, the readout said the leaders “underlined the importance of restoring mutually profitable trade and economic connections between the business circles of the two countries.

“Donald Trump asked to convey the wishes of happiness and prosperity to the Russian people,” the Russian readout said, “noting that the U.S. people are sympathetic to Russia and its citizens.”

Putin recalled America and Russia’s alliance in two world wars and “now considers the U.S. as an important partner in the fight against international terrorism.”

In addition to Putin, Trump spoke with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Also yesterday, Trump revisited his campaign refrain to “Drain the Swamp” by signing an executive order to ban administration officials from ever lobbying the U.S. on behalf of a foreign government and barring officials from lobbying for five years after leaving the government.

In separate orders, Trump also started restructuring the White House National Security Council to better adapt to cyber, digital, terrorist and other modernday threats, and started a 30-day countdown for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the president’s top military advisers, to prepare a plan to defeat the Islamic State terror group.
