Madsen, Harvard ice Colgate

Merrick Madsen had 26 saves, and saw a three-goal burst in the first period that lifted No. 9 Harvard to a 3-1 win over Colgate in an ECAC game in Hamilton, N.Y.

Jake Horton scored the first goal for the Crimson (14-5-2, 10-4-2) just 3:10 into play. Sean Malone added an unassisted tally at 14:30, and Tyler Moy matched Malone with his 11th goal of the season with 45 seconds left in the period. Boston University 4, UMass-Lowell 2— Bobo Carpenter had two goals and an assist in the final frame to lead the top-ranked Terriers (17-7-2, 10-4-2) to the Hockey East win over the No. 7 River Hawks (15-

9-3, 7-7-1) at Agganis Arena.

Jake Oettinger had 33 saves, while Clayton Keller scored the game-winner and added an assist for BU. Ryan Lohin and C.J. Smith had the goals for UML. Providence 3, New Hampshire 2 — Brandon Duhaime snapped a 1-1 tie at 4:50 of the third period, and Bryan Lemos added vital insurance with 6:16 to go as the No. 19 Friars (14-8-4, 6-6-2) topped the Wildcats (11-11-4, 6-5-3) in a Hockey East clash in Durham, N.H.

Tyler Kelleher had a goal and an assist and Daniel Tirone made 45 saves for UNH. Maine 2, UMass 1 — Blaine Byron scored and set up Rob Michel for the eventual game-winner, while Rob McGovern had 44 stops as the Black Bears (10-13-3, 4-91) edged the Minutemen (519-2, 2-11-1) in a Hockey East contest in Orono, Maine.

Bentley 6, RIT 3 — Jonathan Desbiens notched a hat trick and Kyle Schmidt scored twice in a three-goal third period that snapped a 3-3 tie and led the Falcons (9-12-5, 8-8-4) to an Atlantic Hockey win over the Tigers (10-16-1, 10-11-0) in Rochester, N.Y.

Merrimack 4, Boston University 1— Lea-Kristine Demers had 36 saves, while Mikyla Grant-Mentis scored twice in the second period to complete a hat trick and power the Warriors (9-17-3, 5-14-0) to the Hockey East upset of the Terriers (13-9-5, 8-8-4) in North Andover.

Victoria Bach scored her 17th tally of the season for BU.
