George D. Jamieson, 81, of Mansfield, veteran

George D. Jamieson of Mansfield, formerly of Weymouth and Dorchester, a business owner and veteran, died Saturday. He was 81.

He was born in Milton and raised in Dorchester.

He was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and Anna Maria College, where he earned a master’s degree in criminal justice.

He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

Mr. Jamieson owned and operated the Fields Corner Driving School in Dorchester and taught Judo in Quincy after earning his black belt in Japan. He also owned and operated the Neponset Bait & Tackle Shop in Dorchester.

Mr. Jamieson was an inspector, an investigat­or and prosecutor for the Registry of Motor Vehicles and a Massachuse­tts State Trooper before retirement.

He volunteere­d as a benefits officer for the Veterans Administra­tion and stayed involved in motor vehicle safety education for the National Safety Council.

He also owned and operated Big Daddy’s Candyland in Weymouth and Big Daddy’s Empo- rium in Quincy with his sons.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carole M. (Jurevitch); a daughter, Karen L. Brunelle of Auburn; two sons, Eric D. of Weymouth and George D. III of Norwell; a brother, William F. of Brockton; and two grandsons.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Bethany Congregati­onal Church, Quincy.

Burial will be in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
