Harvard at home with Malone

Sean Malone scored twice and dished out an assist to lead fifth-ranked Harvard to a 5-2 ECAC men’s hockey victory last night over Dartmouth at Bright-Landry Hockey Center.

With the three points, Malone now has 26 this season, second only to teammate Alexander Kerfoot’s 27. The Hobey Baker candidate’s 13 goals lead the Crimson (15-5-2, 11-4-2).

Goalie Merrick Madsen stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced off the Big Green (8-12-3, 5-9-2 ECACH).

UMass-Lowell 6, Northeaste­rn 4 — Ryan Dmowski scored with 5:49 to play and Kenny Hausinger added an empty-net goal in the final minute as the No. 10 River Hawks (16-9-3, 8-7-1) defeated the Huskies (11-11-5, 5-9-3) in Hockey East at Matthews Arena. Michael Kapla had three assists for UML.

BC 6, UNH 4 — Ryan Fitzgerald and Colin White each had a goal and an assist to help the No. 8 Eagles (18-92, 13-3-1) earn a Hockey East win over the Wildcats (11-124, 6-6-3) in Durham, N.H.

Providence 3, Maine 2 — Jake Walman’s powerplay goal with 1:53 to play capped a third-period rally as the 15th-ranked Friars (15-8-4, 7-6-2) edged the Black Bears (10-14-3, 4-101) in Hockey East play in Providence, R.I.

Notre Dame 4, Vermont 4— Jake Evans and Cam Morrison scored late in the third period to lift the 17th-ranked Irish (14-9-4, 7-5-3) into a Hockey East tie with the 12th-ranked Catamounts (16-8-3, 8-5-2) in South Bend, Ind.

Merrimack 2, UConn 2 — Joseph Masonius scored with 33 seconds remaining to give the Huskies (10-134, 4-7-4) a Hockey East tie with the Warriors (10-10-7, 6-6-3) in North Andover.

Women’s hockey

Northeaste­rn 4, Providence 3 — Junior Lauren Kelly of Watertown netted the overtime game-winner as the Huskies (18-9-3, 13- 7-2 WHEA) won their fifth straight by edging the Friars (14-13-2, 9-8-2) at Matthews Arena.

St. Lawrence 2, Harvard 1 — Kalie Grant and Kennedy Marchment scored for the fifth-ranked Saints (22-32, 14-2-1) during an ECAC win over the Crimson (3-173, 3-11-3) at Bright-Landry Hockey Center.

BC 4, UConn 4 — Caitrin Lonergan scored early in the third period to cap a rally by the sixth-ranked Eagles (20-3-5, 15-2-3) while claiming a tie with the Huskies (12-13-4, 7-10-2) and clinching the regular-season Women’s Hockey East title in Chestnut Hill.

Men’s basketball

Harvard 69, Penn 59 — Siyani Chambers made 6-of-6 free throws in the final 41 seconds on his way to finishing with 13 points, six assists and a season-high four steals while helping the Crimson (12-6, 4-1) beat the Quakers (7-10, 0-4) , 6959, in an Ivy League game at Lavietes Pavilion.

Princeton 69, Dartmouth 64 — Spencer Weisz scored a career-high 26 points, Myles Stephens added 18 and the Tigers (11-6, 4-0 Ivy League) beat the Big Green (3-15, 0-5) in Hanover, N.H. It was Princeton’s seventh straight win.

Yale 87, Columbia 78 — Miye Oni scored 22 points with eight rebounds and five assists and the Bulldogs (126, 4-1 Ivy) defeated the Lions (10-8, 3-2) in New York.

Brown 81, Cornell 70 — Tavon Blackmon scored 17 and the Bears (11-10, 2-3 Ivy) defeated the Big Red (6-14, 2-3) at Ithaca, N.Y.

Rhode Island 70, Davidson 59 — E.C. Matthews scored 21 points, Jeff Dowtin added 19 and the Rams (15-7, 7-3 Atlantic 10) beat the Wildcats (12-9, 5-5) in Davidson, N.C.

Women’s basketball

Tufts 74, Trinity 39 — Melissa Baptista had 22 points as the Division 3 top-ranked Jumbos (21-0, 8-0 NESCAC) beat the Bantams (11-8, 2-5) in Medford, setting up today’s battle between No. 1 Tufts and No. 2 Amherst today in Medford.

Amherst 75, Bates 37 — Meredith Doswell had 17 points as the secondrank­ed Purple & White (21-0, 7-0 NESCAC) kept pace beating the Bobcats (6-14, 2-6) in Lewiston, Maine.
