River Hawks flying high again

UMass-Lowell has certainly got its offense in high gear.

One night after pumping in six goals to beat Northeaste­rn, the No. 10 ranked River Hawks ran roughshod over New Hampshire, 8-2, in a Hockey East game at Tsongas Center in Lowell last night.

Jake Kamrass led the attack with two goals, while Nick Marin and Mattias Goransson each had a goal and two assists for UML (17-9-3, 9-7-1).

Matias Cleland gave the Wildcats (11-13-4, 6-7-3) a 3-2 lead late in the second period, but the River Hawks scored five unanswered tallies in the third to turn a tight game into a rout. After being outshot 10-6 in the opening period, UML finished with a 44-23 advantage by game’s end.

Providence 5, Maine 3 — Anthony Florentino got a hat trick and fellow blueliners Jacob Bryson and Spenser Young each had two assists to power the No. 15 Friars (16-8-4, 8-6-2 Hockey East) past the Black Bears (10-15-3, 4-11-1) in Providence. Connecticu­t 2, Merrimack 2 — Ludvig Larsson scored twice in the third period, the last with the net empty and 30 seconds left in regulation, to give the Warriors (10-13-5, 4-7-5 Hockey East) the comeback draw with the Huskies (10-10-8, 6-64 Hockey East) in Storrs, Conn.

Jace Hennig set up both Larsson tallies and Collin Delia made 22 saves for Merrimack.

Air Force 5, Bentley 1 — Ryner Gorowsky scored and Jayson Argue had 31 saves but Bentley (9-14-5, 8-10-4) were no match for Air Force (18-8-4, 15-5-2) in an Atlantic Hockey battle of Falcons in Watertown. Norwich 4, UMass-Boston 1— Jordan Bustard made 33 saves and

Ryan Cusin scored, but the Beacons (12-8-3, 7-7-2 NEHC) couldn’t stop the top-ranked Cadets (20-1-3, 15-1-1 NEHC) in Boston.

Endicott 3, Wentworth 1 — Tommy Besinger scored twice in the final frame, the last into an empty net to seal it, as the No. 11 Gulls (16-3-2, 10-3-1 CCC) fought past the Leopards (4-14-3, 2-10-2) in Beverly.

Women

Harvard 2, Clarkson 2 — Lexie Laing set up second-period goals Haley Mullins and Chelsea Ziadie to give the Crimson (3-17-4, 3-11-4 ECAC) a one-goal lead, but Rhyen McGill scored with 48 seconds left in regulation to give the No. 3 Golden Knights (21-4-5, 15-1-2 ECAC) the tie in Cambridge. Beth Larcom had 37 stops for the hosts.
