An enchanting evening at the ballet
If ever there was an occasion to celebrate in the dead of winter, it was Boston Ballet's Ball of Enchantment on Saturday night, where all things captivating were the order of the evening. Hundreds of Hubsters enjoyed dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions at the Castle at the Park Plaza's annual black tie soiree, which marks the beginning of the Boston social season.
Emcee JC Monahan guided guests through the dazzling program, which included breathtaking performances by members of the Boston Ballet.
Co-chaired by Hannah Grove and Alison Quirk, the highlight of the night was the dance party that kicked off as the main event was winding down, and where guests got to shake it with ubertalented BB dancers.
Among them: Pamela Humphrey, Lisa Blumenthal, Eleanor Pao, Billy and Meredith Star, and Boston Ballet dancers Lawrence Rines, John Lam, and Kathleen Breen Combes.
Mayor Marty Walsh was unable to attend, but recorded a video for the occasion praising the org's work.
Fashion trends on display included beading, florals and the color red.
Standout style stars were Hannah Grove in a floral Carolina Herrera gown, Uzo Erlingsson in a red Chalayan dress, Jessica Ferri Schmitz in a beaded St. John stunner and Adelle Chang in a bright yellow Rebecca Vallance dress with bow detail. The evening raised $1.8 million to support the ballet and its many educational programs. Learn more at bostonballet.org.
