Warrior women make their pitch

It takes a strong woman to raise money for a good cause.

Charity Warriors, which helps local fund-raising ladies hone their skills in a series of pitching challenges, put the contenders through their paces last night in a Mystery Donor Reception at Davio’s. The Warriors, brainchild of

Christy Cashman (stepmother of Boston Herald radio personality

Jaclyn Cashman) and Mary Chiochios, use six meets to determine which contestants will go on to compete in a final fundraising event on March 29.

Twelve of the 15 contenders, including Mix 104.1’ s Kennedy Elsey ( South Shore Mental Health), and Michelle Easter ( Magical Moon Farm), represented their charities

by networking with guests and pitching their mission and services to the crowd. Anonymous donors planted in the audience awarded funds to the Warriors they were most impressed by. Other attendees also helped select a winner by voting for the Warrior of their choice.

Among them: David Josef, Daniel Forrester, Mary Kakas, Cynthia Wachs, Joan Jolley and Colette Phillips. Now in its third year, The Charity Warriors Challenge, along with

Saskia Epstein and Power Launch (their partner social impact accelerator), invites a handful of area socials to compete for 10 weeks to see who can raise the most amount of money for their selected nonprofit. The project has provided a fundraising platform for more than a dozen Boston charities to raise over $500,000.
