Weekend TV watch
Oops, they did it again. Lifetime drops another ripped-from-the-dregs-of-pop-tele-film, “Britney: Ever After” (tomorrow at 8 p.m.), which re-creates everything from the iconic singer’s start on “The All New Mickey Mouse Club” to her head-shaving meltdown, all on a $20 budget, no doubt.
Sloths, crabs and penguins, oh my. Get closer to animals you never thought possible in “Planet Earth II,” a six-part sequel series to the documentary mega-hit and narrated by legendary Sir David Attenborough and scored by Academy Awardwinner Hans Zimmer (tomorrow at 8 p.m., on BBC America).
A billionaire sets out to destroy a government official. It can only be — wait for it — “Billions,” back for another season (Sunday at 10 p.m., on Showtime), worth it only to see Damian Lewis chew the scenery with Paul Giamatti. The premiere arrives as part of the premium channel’s free preview weekend.
The island is under assault on “Black Sails” (Sunday at 9 p.m., on Starz).
Silver confronts Billy while Bonny and Rackham suffer greatly.
Come for the clips. Stay for the stars. “The Paley Center Salutes NBC’s 90th
Anniversary” (Sunday at 8 p.m., on — where else — NBC) celebrates the broadcast giant’s birthday with host Kelsey Grammer and such celebs as Tiny Fey and William Shatner.
Springfield discovers Homer is a chess savant on
“The Simpsons” (Sunday at 8 p.m., on Fox). Call me crazy, but I think this show is out of ideas. — mark. perigard@bostonherald.com
