JOIN THE CLUB FOR WARDROBE STYLING
Some people are gifted in the fine art of getting dressed every day. For the rest of us, there are services like Trunk Club, a personal shopping and wardrobe curation service. The Chicago-based company (now owned by Nordstrom) has both virtual styling services — where a stylist will pick out your clothes based on your preferences then mail them to you — and in-person styling via Clubhouses popping up in major metropolitan cities such as New York, D.C. and Dallas. The Boston outpost had a soft opening in late 2016, but will host a grand opening March 3. Trunk Club's Chief Marketing Officer Linda Bartman opens up the closet:
How would you explain the concept?
Customers work with an expert stylist who helps them select a single item, like a pair of jeans, or create a wardrobe to fit their lifestyle, body type and style preferences all while enjoying a complimentary cocktail, glass of wine or beer in a beautifully designed Clubhouse.
Why was Boston an important destination to open up shop in?
Trunk Club chose to open a Boston Clubhouse because we saw an opportunity to bring our unique offering to the market. We already had a substantial number of “trunk” customers in the Boston area and wanted to offer them another way to shop. There is nothing like Trunk Club in the Boston area.
Why wait until now for the big official reveal?
We started taking styling appointments in late 2016 and have been steadily adding fitting rooms and building out the space over the past two months. We officially have nearly 20 full- time stylists on staff and have completed our build out of the space. Each fitting room is distinctive and designed by a different brand sold at Trunk Club.
What is pricing like? What should people expect?
Trunk Club has a wide range of price points available. For women, pants and jeans range from $60 to $350, and tops start at $50. For men, jeans range from $150 to $300, and we offer sweaters from $50. We also have custom clothing for men available at our Boston location at a variety of price points.
