March 4: 10th annual Bill’s Race to Beat Amyloid, Cannon Mountain, N.H. — A day of fun for all ages in memory of longtime skier Bill Cunningham and supporting Amyloid research at Boston Medical Center. Register in the morning in the Peabody Lodge (discounts on lift tickets available). Huge silent raffle all day and a fun race kicks off on Time Zone trail at 11 a.m. cannonmnt.com March 4: Winter Wild, Black Mountain, N.H. — Rise with the sun and take part in this race, which is part of a popular series. You ski or run up the mountain, then race down to finish — all before the lifts start running for the day. Prizes and postrace fun for all involved.

March 4: Midnight Madness, Wachusett — To celebrate the first Saturday in March, which is everybody’s favorite ski month, the mountain will keep the lifts spinning until midnight. Besides skiing and riding until the stroke of midnight, there will be tubing from 6-10 p.m., cozy fire pits with s’mores to enjoy, a DJ and breakfast offerings in the base lodge. wachusett.com March 4-5: USASA Ski And Board Cross Competitio­n, Ragged Mountain, N.H. — A full weekend of competitio­n featuring some amazing athletes, all on a snowy stage that’s easy to view from the base. Athletes should register in advance. Fans can show up (with cowbells, of course) at any time all weekend.

March 5-7: New Hampshire Special Olympics Winter Games, Waterville Valley, N.H. — Inspiratio­n everywhere you look; reasons to cheer like crazy every time you watch an event. This is an event to attend and take in, from the emotional opening ceremony on March 5 right up to the celebrator­y end on March 7.
