Coyotes hurt Bolts’ hopes

Oliver Ekman-Larsson had a goal and an assist during Arizona’s threegoal third period, Louis Domingue stopped 36 shots and the Coyotes damaged Tampa Bay’s playoff hopes with a 5-3 victory last night in Tampa.

Arizona, with the NHL’s secondwors­t record, also got goals from Christian Fischer, Christian Dvorak, Radim Vrbata and Connor Murphy.

Victor Hedman, Nikita Kucherov and Vladislav Namestniko­v scored for the Lightning, who remained four points behind Toronto for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference.

Arizona has been outscored 81-52 during the third period this season.

Red Wings 2, Canadiens 1 — Anthony Mantha scored at 4:10 of overtime to lift Detroit past host Montreal.

Mantha scored his 15th of the season on a wrist shot from close range to give the Red Wings their third win in four games. Justin Abdelkader scored in the first period for Detroit while Artturi Lehkonen tied it for Montreal late in the third.

The Red Wings led 1-0 for almost 56 minutes until Lehkonen tied the game at 17:31 of the third period.

Capitals 4, Flames 2 — Alex Ovechkin had a goal and two assists, T.J. Oshie scored his 30th of the season and NHL-leading Washington defeated visiting Calgary.

The top line of Ovechkin, Oshie and Nicklas Backstrom dominated. Ovechkin had a season-high 11 shots, beating Flames goalie Brian Elliott in the third period for his 29th goal.

Penguins 3, Sabres 1 — Nick Bonino scored the go-ahead goal with 5:29 left and Pittsburgh clinched its 11th straight playoff berth by beating host Buffalo.

Sidney Crosby and Conor Sheary scored, and Matt Murray made 29 saves. The Penguins improved to 8-1-1 in their past 10 and are in the hunt to finish with the NHL’s best record.

Devils 3, Rangers 2 — In Newark, N.J., Joseph Blandisi scored on an odd-man rush with 54.6 seconds left in overtime and New Jersey handed New York a rare road loss.

Hurricanes 4, Panthers 3 — In Sunrise, Fla., Jeff Skinner scored two goals, including the game-winner with 3:55 left to play, to lead Carolina past Florida.

Jets 3, Flyers 2 — Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele each had a goal and two assists and host Winnipeg earned its third straight victory by beating Philadelph­ia.

Wild 3, Sharks 2 — In St. Paul, Minn., Martin Hanzal and Charlie Coyle scored 15 seconds apart late in the second period, and Minnesota stopped a five-game losing streak by hanging on for victory against San Jose.

Canucks 5, Blackhawks 4 — Daniel Sedin scored a power-play goal 2:12 into overtime and visiting Vancouver beat Chicago to end a six-game skid.

Blues 4, Avalanche 2 — In Demver, Magnus Paajarvi and Jaden Schwartz scored in the third period to send St. Louis past Colorado.
