Latest loss of life another wake-up call to support Trump travel ban
The shocking terror attack in London yesterday that left at least four dead, including a police officer, and severely injured dozens — throwing the U.K. Parliament into a lockdown — should serve as a rallying cry for our own Congress and the American people to get behind President Trump’s temporary travel ban pausing immigration from several Muslim-majority countries the Obama administration designated as terrorist trouble spots.
But Democrats, instead of supporting our commander in chief for taking common-sense measures toward fixing our broken immigration system in an age of radical Islamist terror instead have exploited the controversial travel ban for political purposes to paint the president as an “Islamophobe” or a “racist.” Of course the same Democrats who smear our president with antiMuslim accusations didn’t lob any verbal grenades against a Democratic president when Barack Obama banned refugees from Iraq in 2011. Talk about hypocrisy. But what millions of rational Americans do know is that Trump ordered the temporary travel pause just to get our immigration house in order so we don’t see another deadly terror attack like we saw in the U.K. happen again on our crowded city streets.
No one will forget the Somali refugee who plowed his car into students at Ohio State University last year, then attacked students with a knife — while yelling “Allahu Akbar.”
Then there was the radical Islamist terror attacks at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando and San Bernardino. All committed by Muslim jihadists who slaughtered scores of Americans in the name of Allah. Not to mention the truck attacks in Nice and Berlin last year, causing massive carnage and mayhem.
Knowing that last November in ISIS’s terror magazine, Rumiyah, the Islamist State called for jihadists to use vehicles to plow down “infidels” in crowded areas and engage in knife attacks. Americans and members of Congress should fortify their resolve to support Trump’s travel pause and finally fix our broken immigration system once and for all. Before we see another England, Nice or Brussels attack in our cities and neighborhoods.
With the Boston Marathon approaching — and crowds gathering — extreme vetting can’t come soon enough.
