Leafs leapfrog B’s in Atlantic

William Nylander and Leo Komarov each had a goal and an assist and the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Blue Jackets, 5-2, last night in Columbus to overtake the Bruins for third place by a point in the Atlantic Division.

Auston Matthews and Nazem Kadri also scored, and Frederik Andersen had 32 saves for the Maple Leafs. Nikita Zaitsev added an empty-net goal.

David Savard and Brandon Saad scored for Columbus, which lost for the first time in five games. Backup goalie Joonas Korpisalo stopped 26 shots.

The Blue Jackets stayed in third place in the Metropolit­an Division, two points behind leader Washington and one behind Pittsburgh. Columbus plays in Washington tonight.

Islanders 3, Rangers 2 — Andrew Ladd scored the tiebreakin­g goal in the third period and the Islanders rallied for the “road” win against the crosstown-rival Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

Anders Lee had a goal and an assist, and Nikolay Kulemin also scored for the Islanders, who pulled two points behind the Bruins for the Eastern Conference’s second wild card playoff spot. Thomas Greiss stopped 34 shots.

Mats Zuccarello and Rick Nash scored, and Antti Raanta finished with 25 saves for the Rangers, who remained six points behind Columbus for third place in the Metropolit­an Division.

Rangers No. 1 goalie Henrik Lundqvist is expected to play this weekend after being sidelined since March 7 with a hip injury.

Ducks 4, Oilers 3 — Rickard Rakell scored the goahead goal, Hampus Lindholm had a goal and two assists, and host Anaheim defeated Edmonton.

Jonathan Bernier made 29 saves, and Josh Manson and Patrick Eaves also scored as Anaheim passed Edmonton for second place in the Pacific Division with nine games remaining for both teams.

Elsewhere in the NHL — The league is considerin­g taking further disciplina­ry action against Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolaine­n for his blindside hit that led to Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel suffering a concussion.

Guentzel was exiting Pittsburgh’s zone Tuesday when a pass intended for him was broken up along the left boards. As Guentzel turned to look back for the puck, he was bowled over by Ristolaine­n, who was issued a five-minute major for interferen­ce and ejected from the game. . . .

The St. Louis Blues announced forward Paul Stastny is week to week with a lower-body injury.
