America runs (ahead) on Dunkin' when ordering with Waze feature
Dunkin’ Donuts fans have a new way to place mobile orders and skip the lines at the coffee and doughnut chain’s restaurants.
The Canton company has partnered with Waze to allow its DD Perks rewards members to order ahead using the free, crowdsourced traffic and navigation mobile application.
Dunkin’ is the launch brand for Waze’s new “Order Ahead” feature that connects to a participating company’s own app — in this case, Dunkin’s On-theGo mobile ordering app.
The new feature expands Google-owned Waze’s mission of helping users save time on the road by also helping them save time in stores, and it gives brands a new way to interact with their customers, according to Jordan Grossman, Waze’s head of business partnerships for North America.
Customers can launch the Waze app and enter “Dunkin’ Donuts” in the search field, and the app will find the closest Dunkin’ location. They then can select the “order ahead” option, choose the desired menu items and tap the “I’m ready to pick up” tab when they want to retrieve their orders.
Use of the new feature requires Dunkin’ DD Perks members to first update their Dunkin’ mobile app on their iPhone, iPod touch or Android smartphone.
Dunkin’ has been a Waze partner since 2012, when it first mapped its restaurant locations through the app.
“We are proud to be the first brand to integrate with Waze to enhance the mobile experience and offer our DD Perks members … faster, more convenient ways for ordering ahead,” said Scott Hudler, Dunkin’ Brands’ chief digital officer.
