Erik Karlsson and Tom Pyatt scored, Craig Anderson made 24 saves for his fifth shutout of the season and the Senators defeated the Detroit Red Wings, 2-0, last night in Ottawa.

Wild 5, Hurricanes 3 — In St. Paul, Minn., Nino Niederreiter had two goals and an assist to lead Minnesota past Carolina, clinching second place in the Central Division and home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Bryan Bickell played more than 12 minutes for the Hurricanes, his first game after his diagnosis of multiple sclerosis forced a hiatus from the team and raised questions about his career.

Jets 5, Blues 2 — Patrik Laine scored twice and Mark Scheifele had a goal and an assist as Winnipeg won in St. Louis for its season-high fifth straight victory.

Stars 3, Coyotes 2 — Julius Honka scored his first NHL goal 3:45 into overtime, and host Dallas downed Arizona.

Kings 6, Oilers 4 — Trevor Lewis and Tanner Pearson scored 8 1⁄2 minutes apart in the third period, Jonathan Quick made 23 saves and Los Angeles beat visiting Edmonton. The Oilers had a fivegame winning streak halted.

Ducks 3, Flames 1 — Patrick Eaves scored his eighth goal in nine games, John Gibson made 26 saves and host Anaheim moved closer to a fifth straight Pacific Division title with a win over Calgary.

Avalanche 4, Blackhawks 3— Erik Johnson went coastto-coast to score at 1:57 of overtime and Colorado rallied from a three-goal deficit to beat Chicago in Denver.

Sharks 3, Canucks 1— Kevin Labanc and Joel Ward scored in the first 30 seconds for the quickest two goals in franchise history, and host San Jose beat Vancouver.

Elsewhere in the NHL — The Florida Panthers decided interim coach Tom Rowe’s stint will end when their season does Sunday. The Lynn native still might stay with the Panthers organization.
