All systems Zoe at MGH fundraiser
Fashion royalty graced Boston for a Massachusetts General Hospital shopping fundraiser Thursday night at the Taj Boston hotel, co-hosted by Rachel Zoe with Newbury Street women's fashion boutique Max & Riley.
Owned by mother-daughter duo Susan and Hope Roussilhes, Max & Riley sells the celeb-stylist-turned-designer's eponymous line. Susan and Hope hail from New Jersey and moved to Boston to be closer to Susan's other daughter, Ali, a neurologist at MGH. They opened the chic boutique in 2015.
Zoe and her handsome hubby/ biz partner Rodger Berman were super friendly, posing for photos and working the crowd. The style star recently launched a children's line collaboration with Paul Frank and gilt.com. When we asked how she struck the right balance between family and work, she admitted that it wasn't always easy.
“Honestly, I was saying to someone the other day, `I'm motion sick from my life.' The are days when you can do it all and other days when its not manageable. You just get through it. It's helpful that my husband is also the co-CEO. ... We do it together, ... and when we're coming undone at least we have each other,” explained Zoe.
It's not her first time in the Hub — Zoe took summer courses in Boston while she was in college, dated a Boston University student her freshman year and is a fan of our style.
“It's beautiful; I love it here. I would never think that Boston is unfashionable. Boston has a style flavor unto itself. ... There's a traditional, preppy style here. ... I love that.”
Shoppers on site included Tiffany Ortiz, Allison Buchheit, Shannon Wright, Susannah Moreland, Carolyn Pomeranz, Erica Jones, Alyssa Sloan, Valerie Francois and Brittany Ross.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit neurofibromatosis type II (NF2) research at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. Susan Roussilhes' brother died from the rare disease.
