Boston police say they nabbed three gun-toting Hub teens in less than 24 hours, including one who was armed with a loaded Tec-9, during operations that prompted the Hub’s top cop to point out “the troubling nature of these incidents.”

The arrests began in Dorchester Tuesday evening, where police say two teens with guns were nabbed less than two hours apart.

The first arrest came about 5 p.m., when members of the department’s gang unit executing a search warrant on Adams Street say they found a 17-year-old boy with a 9mm Tec-9 loaded with 23 rounds of ammunition.

The suspect, whose name was not released because of his age, was ordered held on $100,000 bail pending a hearing on whether he violated probation on a previous case, authorities said.

Then, about 6:45 p.m., officers say they took a .32-caliber revolver off a 16-year-old Braintree boy on Draper Street after they noticed him clutching at his waist. He was expected to be arraigned in Dorchester Juvenile Court.

The two arrests came less than a day before a 17-year-old Somerville boy was arrested in South Boston yesterday morning as part of police are calling an “ongoing investigation in the area of Dorchester Avenue and Old Harbor Street.” The teen, police said, was armed with a .40-caliber handgun.

In the wake of the arrests, police Commissioner William B. Evans said: “I need to call attention to the troubling nature of these incidents — we have two kids who were in possession of loaded guns. I’m just happy we got to them before they hurt someone or got hurt themselves.”
