Irene M. Callahan, at 80, resident of Chelmsford

Irene M. (Doyle) Callahan of Chelmsford died Monday at Lowell General Hospital. She was 80.

Mrs. Callahan was born in Jamaica Plain.

She worked in the main office at South Row School in Chelmsford for 18 years.

Mrs. Callahan was a parishione­r for 50 years of St. Mary’s Church in Chelmsford, where she taught CCD and served as a Eucharisti­c minister.

She enjoyed playing golf and tennis, spending time with her grandchild­ren and splitting a blueberry muffin at Dunkin’ Donuts with her best friend Gerry.

Wife for 58 years of the late Gerald J. “Gerry”, she is survived by two sons, Gerald J. Jr. of Andover and Tim of Chelmsford; two daughters, Maureen Sullivan of Westford and Denise of North Andover; nine grandchild­ren, three great-grandchild­ren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Church, Chelmsford.

Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
