First overseas trip brings out the best in billionaire businessman president
While the beltway swamp-dwellers in Washington, D.C., slither amongst each other in lairs like Capitol Hill and CNN, President Trump is overseas reestablishing the United States as an unabashed superpower with a serious and forceful agenda.
The Saudis couldn’t get enough of him.
President Trump and Saudi King Salman obviously have a very good relationship and Trump was feted at every turn.
Governor Mike Huckabee put it best in a tweet: “If Dems and press showed @realDonaldTrump 1/2 as much respect as Saudis have, we would have health care, tax cuts, and LOTS of jobs already.”
One of the first things Trump did when he stepped off the plane was sign a $100 billion arms deal between United States and the kingdom.
It was a strong statement of support for the Sunni Muslim country and an even stronger statement to Iran.
This trip couldn’t come at a better time.
With the media, Democrats and White House leakers engaging in a soft coup, Trump needs to show the American people he can affect positive change.
“This is a moment to pivot,” former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove noted yesterday.
Indeed it is. This is a huge stage with marquee stops in Israel and the Vatican to come. The symbolism of the American president putting emphasis on Muslim, Christian and Jewish destinations of great import will send a strong message to the world that this version of America wishes to engage boldly with a diverse set of allies.
Swatting away conjure dup media attacks and trudging through bureaucratic D.C. quicksand are obviously not Donald Trump’s strong suits and it’s apparent by his sizable Mar-a- Lago tab that he hates it.
This trip brings out the best in the billionaire businessman.
When President Trump returns he will be a stronger, more credible president and unlike the previous commander in chief, he will not have diminished the greatness of his own country to win the admiration of progressives across the globe.
Trump loves America, there is no doubt about that. He also likes to win (perhaps you’ve heard about his unlikely election victory — he mentions it every so often). It’s refreshing to have that dynamic back in the Oval Office.
At home, D.C. zombies will continue to try to destroy him and he’s got to stop making it easy for them. Let the smug latenight hosts and internet wiseacres make cracks about sword dances and bowing to foreign leaders, but deep down it bothers them that he’s this effective. This historic trip is a great step toward casting them off.
