More legal trouble for ex-Pat Floyd

- — HERALD WIRE SERVICES

Vikings receiver Michael Floyd has been flagged for failed alcohol tests while he’s under house arrest, the Star Tribune in Minneapolis confirmed. He is scheduled for a June 26 court appearance in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Floyd flagged his alcohol monitoring three times and missed another test within an hour on Sunday, police records obtained by the newpaper show. Floyd pegged the failed tests on consuming Kombucha tea. He was 90 days into his 96-day alcohol monitoring when he tested positive. Brian Murphy, Floyd’s agent, disputed that his client violated the terms of his house arrest. Murphy said: “Michael did not drink any alcohol.”

Floyd, a St. Paul, Minn., native, was allowed to transfer his house arrest to Minnesota, therefore allowing him to be a full participant with the Vikings.

Floyd, 27, was arrested and charged with extreme DWI on Dec. 12, 2016 after being found with a blood alcohol level of 0.217 and passed out at the wheel of his car.

“We are aware of the situation involving Michael Floyd and are looking into the matter. We are still gathering facts and will withhold any further comment at this time,” the Vikings said in a release.

He was released by the Cardinals on Dec. 14 and signed by the Patriots, remaining with the team through Super Bowl LI. He was not re-signed after the season and joined the Vikings on May 10.

Saints’ Armstead needs surgery

The Saints have lost starting left tackle Terron Armstead for the start of the regular season. Armstead needs surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder and his rehabilitation is expected to take 4-6 months.

Armstead, 25, posted on his Twitter page that he is “heartbroken” and “frustrated” when he learned he’d need the operation.

The 6-foot-5, 304-pound Armstead is in the first year of a five-year, $65 million extension that he signed before the 2016 season.

If Armstead is able to return in four months, he could begin playing as early as the halfway point in the season. But if his rehabilitation lags, his season could be virtually wiped out.

New Orleans has a couple of options as Armstead’s replacement: Former first-round draft choice Andrus Peat, who was projected to start at left guard, could move to left tackle, a position he played in college at Stanford.

Another option is rookie Ryan Ramczyk, whom the Saints selected with the last pick of the first round of this spring’s draft. . . . Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen

Ramsey is recovering from surgery to “treat a core muscle injury” sustained during organized team activities. Ramsey had surgery Thursday. No timetable was offered on Ramsey’s return.
