Ottawa gives Condon 3 years
The Ottawa Senators signed goaltender Mike Condon to a three-year contract extension worth an average $2.4 million per NHL season.
Condon, 27, was acquired last fall from the Pittsburgh Penguins for a 2017 fifthround draft pick. The Holliston native backed up starter Craig Anderson and appeared in 40 games, posting a 19-14-6 record with a 2.48 goalsagainst average, .914 save percentage and five shutouts. Condon played in a franchise-high 27 consecutive games between Dec. 1 and Feb. 4 when Anderson was away to attend to his ailing wife. . . .
St. Louis Blues center Patrik Berglund is expected to be out until December after having surgery to repair a dislocated left shoulder. Berglund was injured during an offseason conditioning program in Sweden and flew to St. Louis for the surgery. Berglund, 29, scored a career-high 23 goals and finished with 34 points in 2016-17. . . . .
Brendan Smith, the ex-Detroit Red Wings defenseman who came to the Rangers at the trade deadline, is staying in New York. Smith, 28, an unrestricted free agent on Saturday, agreed to a four-year extension worth a reported $17.4 million, according to two reports. . . .
The Carolina Hurricanes agreed to terms with forward Brock McGinn (two years) and defenseman Philip Samuelsson (one year), the son of former NHL defenseman Ulf Samuelsson. ...
The Colorado Avalanche agreed to a two-year deal with Swiss forward Sven Andrighetto.
Soccer: Breakers tie
Adriana Leon had a goal in the 84th minute waved off, so the Breakers were forced to settle for a point in Houston last night after a 0-0 draw with the Dash, the bottom two teams in the NWSL.
The Breakers (2-6-3) are still last, one point behind the Dash (3-7-1), their unbeaten run reached eight matches (0-5-3) and they remain winless on the road (0-4-2). Sammy Jo Prudhomme made four saves to earn the shutout. . . .
Claudio Bravo made three penalty saves as Chile defeated Portugal, 3-0, in a penalty shootout in Kazan, Russia, to reach the Confederations Cup final. Chile will play the winner of today’s Germany-Mexico match in Sunday’s final in St. Petersburg.
Tennis: Wimbledon seeds
The “Big 4” of men’s tennis were given the four highest seedings for this year’s tournament at Wimbledon, which begins on Monday.
No. 1-ranked Andy Murray, the defending champion, got the top seed, followed by Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Third-ranked Stan Wawrinka, who is seeking to complete a career Grand Slam, is seeded fifth.
In the women’s seedings, Angelique Kerber is No. 1 in a list that mirrors the top-10 rankings with the exception of No. 4 Serena Williams, who is out pregnant. Fifthranked Elina Svitolina is the fourth seed behind Kerber, Simona Halep and Karolina Pliskova.

Tom Corcoran, an Olympic skier who founded the Waterville Valley ski resort in New Hampshire in 1966, died Tuesday at his home in Seabrook Island, S.C., following a brief illness. He was 85.
