Yvonne F. Abate, at 73, of Everett, a nurse

Yvonne F. (Mallett) Abate of Saugus, formerly of Everett, died Saturday at her home. She was 73.

She was born, raised and educated in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School.

Mrs. Abate earned a degree in nursing and was a nurse in the health care industry for many years.

She enjoyed caring for her family and loved to dote on her grandchild­ren.

Wife of the late Lewis, she is survived by two sons, Lewis of Danvers and Michael of Saugus; three grandsons, and several nieces and nephews. Interment will be private. Arrangemen­ts by O’Donnell Funeral, Cremation & Memorial Service, Danvers.

Beatrice Dinardi, at 97, resident of Melrose

Beatrice (Bennett) Dinardi of Melrose died Thursday. She was 97.

She was born and raised in Melrose and was a 1937 graduate of Melrose High School.

She was a bank teller for Baybank for many years.

Mrs. Dinardi was a lifelong resident of Melrose and a communican­t of St. Mary’s Church for many years.

She was a member of the Melrose Garden Club, enjoyed traveling and was an talented seamstress.

Wife of the late Alfonce J. for 29 years, she is survived by two daughters, Frances of Hull and Patricia Meehan of Melrose; five grandchild­ren, 10 great-grandchild­ren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Church, Melrose.

Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.

Richard E. O’Brien, vet, mechanic, of Malden

Richard E. O’Brien of Malden died Thursday.

He served in the Air Force and was stationed in Vietnam from 1963 to 1966.

He was a mechanic in the trucking business and retired from Ryder Transporta­tion Services in 2012.

He enjoyed relaxing, fishing, boating, visiting with best friends and spending summers at Grand View Campground during retirement.

Mr. O’Brien is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane (Welch); a son, Robert of Peabody; two daughters, Diane Goodwin of Malden and Dawn Tomlinson of Dover, N.H.; seven grandchild­ren, two great-granddaugh­ters and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today at St. Joseph Church, Malden. Interment will be private. Arrangemen­ts by Spadafora Funeral Home, Malden.

Libby Mages, 93, stage producer won Pulitzer

CHICAGO — Famed Chicagobas­ed theatrical producer Libby Adler Mages has died at 93.

Wendy Mages said her mother died of a heart attack Sunday at Northweste­rn Memorial Hospital.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that during her long career she won a Tony Award for her show “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and a Pulitzer Prize for “Three Tall Women.”

Tony-winning producer Mick Leavitt praised Ms. Mages for all the support she gave to him and others at the beginning of their careers in the theater. And Ms. Mages’ daughter Mari Stuart said Ms. Mages had a lifelong love affair with the theater and kept working in theater until the day she died.
