MICHAEL BALLIN WARING

The senior attack had 34 goals and 31 assists to earn Mass. Bay Independen­t League boys lacrosse co-MVP honors despite playing the second half of the season with a broken hand. He finished his career with 168 points and was a two time MBIL All-Star. Also a captain on the soccer and basketball teams, Ballin will attend Colby College.

ISABEL BUCKLEY MONTROSE

Buckley tallied 47 goals and 23 assists as a junior attack to earn Independen­t Girls Conference lacrosse MVP honors. Buckley has been a league All-Star in each of the last two seasons and was voted a team captain for 2018. She is a member of the National Honor Society and earned a silver medal on the National Spanish Exam. She also serves as her class president.

JAYME CALLUM GANN ACADEMY

The senior catcher batted .602 with five home runs and 28 RBI, earning Independen­t Girls Conference softball MVP honors for a second time. She finished her career as a four-time IGC All-Star with a .611 average and 21 homers. Callum was a two-time captain in both softball and volleyball and will play both sports at Ursinus College in the fall.

DURU COSAR BANCROFT

As a junior, Cosar went 9-0 at No. 1 singles and was named the Eastern Independen­t League girls tennis Player of the Year. A three-time EIL All-Star and two-time team MVP, she has a career record of 24-5. An honor roll student, Cosar also plays piano and is a member of the school yearbook club.

OWEN DROMETER THAYER ACADEMY

A middle distance runner, the sophomore was the Independen­t School League boys track MVP as well as the New England Prep School champion in both the 1,500 and 800. He was undefeated in both events during the regular season, posting a best of 4:03.46 in the 1,500 and 1:57.13 in the 800. An honor roll student, he also helped Thayer win the ISL 4x400 relay championsh­ip.

HARRIS FOULKES ROXBURY LATIN

The junior played both first singles and first doubles on the Roxbury Latin tennis team and helped the Foxes go 15-0 and win the Independen­t School League championsh­ip. He was the ISL's MVP after going 29-1 in singles and 12-1 in doubles. A threetime All-League selection, Foulkes works with senior citizens in his community and helps build sets for school plays.

ELAN GANZ GANN ACADEMY

A junior defender and long stick midfielder, Ganz was the Mass. Bay Independen­t League boys lacrosse MVP and helped Gann finish in second place in the conference. He averaged over 46 minutes of playing time per game and was named to the NEPSAC Eastern All-Region team. Ganz also runs cross-country at Gann.

JONATHAN HODGE BOSTON TRINITY

The Mass. Bay Independen­t League MVP in baseball, the junior pitcher/ catcher batted .478 this season while posting a 2.22 ERA in relief. Hodge boasts a career average of .500 with 22 RBI, 24 steals and 28 runs scored and has a 2.03 ERA in 242⁄ 3 innings pitched. An honor roll student, he also plays soccer and basketball.

HAILEY JOHNSON GOVERNOR’S ACADEMY

The senior pitcher went 13-0 with a leaguebest ERA of 0.80 in earning MVP softball honors in the Independen­t School League. She helped her own cause with a team-leading .500 average. She also hit three home runs and had 24 RBI to help the Governors go 15-1 and win the ISL championsh­ip. An Amesbury resident, Johnson will attend Suffolk University in the fall.

CASSIDY KEARNEY THAYER ACADEMY

Kearney set Independen­t School League meet records of 4:46.06 in the 1,500 and 2:16.47 in the 800 while also contributi­ng to a meet mark in the 4x400 relay (4:01.48). Her efforts led her team to ISL and NEPSTA Division 2 titles. The ISL MVP and all New-England selection holds the school mark in all three events as well. The reigning ISL MVP in cross-country, Kearney holds the school record in the 5K.

JULES KENNEDY BB&N

The Independen­t School League girls lacrosse MVP had a goals-against average of 6.9 this season while saving 53 percent of the shots she saw in goal. The senior captained both the lacrosse and hockey teams — where she was also all-league — and graduated from BB&N with honors. Kennedy will play hockey and lacrosse at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

KAITLIN KOLB WINSOR

The eighth-grade phenom won the Eastern Independen­t League girls track MVP for the second year in a row. She improved upon her own school record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.77 seconds. Kolb won the 100 and 300 hurdles at the EIL championsh­ip meet and also placed second in the long jump. A repeat Herald All-Scholastic, she finished top three in those three events at the Division 2 NEPSTA meet.

DELIA LEVINE NEWTON COUNTRY DAY

A pitcher and first baseman, Levine hit .477 and had a 9-2 record on the mound en route to being named Eastern Independen­t League softball MVP. The senior drove in 21 runs, scored 14 and struck out 95 batters. She finished with a career pitching record of 16-3. An honor roll student, Levine will attend the nursing school at the University of Pennsylvan­ia.

HANNAH MARINO PINGREE

The senior goalie had a save percentage of .586 and was named Eastern Independen­t League girls lacrosse MVP. She was voted to the Agganis All-Star game and has made the Lower New England National Team the past three years. An honor roll student, she was also a volleyball captain and AllStar. Marino will continue her lacrosse career at Colby College.

JOHN MINICUS MILTON ACADEMY

The junior was the NEPSTA Division 1 champion in the long jump, triple jump and javelin. He had 20 first-place finishes over eight meets and was voted the Independen­t School League field MVP. Minicus is a two-time all-ISL first-team member and has been voted a team captain for 2018. He's also a drummer for Milton Academy's jazz combo.

AMANDA OFULUE MILTON ACADEMY

In her first season at Milton and in the U.S., the sophomore won the ISTA discus and shot put title, throwing a record 37-9 in the latter, and went on to capture the Division 1 NEPSAC discus crown. She holds school records in both events, with a discus toss of 123-8. Ofulue plays soccer at Milton and earned a music scholarshi­p when she lived in Kenya.

SEMI OLOKO MILTON ACADEMY

The No. 1 singles player for her team, Oloko went undefeated in Independen­t School League matches en route to being named the league MVP for girls tennis. An outstandin­g student, the senior was involved in student government. She will continue her tennis career at Brown University in the fall.

JOHN PIATELLI ST. SEBASTIAN’S

The senior attack scored 60 goals and added 72 assists to earn Independen­t School League boys lacrosse Player of the Year honors. An All-America selection, Piatelli was also the recipient of the Bruce Lerch Player of the Year award. A member of the National Honor Society who also plays squash, Piatelli will continue his lacrosse career at Cornell University.

JACK ROBERTS NOBLE & GREENOUGH

The senior captain had a 15-1 match play record to earn Independen­t School League golf MVP honors. Roberts finished his career with a 59-9-6 record and was named to the All-ISL team four times. He graduated with honors and was awarded the Miller Medal as the most distinguis­hed student athlete of his class. He will attend Princeton University to play both soccer and golf.

RAIMUNDO RIOJAS PORTSMOUTH ABBEY

Riojas continued his dominant run as a singles and doubles player for Portsmouth Abbey as he was named the Eastern Independen­t League boys tennis MVP for the third year in a row. The senior helped Portsmouth Abbey reach the 2017 NEPSAC class C championsh­ips and had a combined singles and doubles record of 16-4-2. Riojas will attend the University of Notre Dame this fall.

SAM RUETER CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL OF WESTON

As a senior captain, Rueter had a 12-1 combined record between first and second singles. He was a Mass. Bay Independen­t League All-Star for the third time and also won the team Coach’s Award. Rueter was also a team captain and All-Star in soccer and will attend Grinnell College to continue his soccer career.

RYAN SULLIVAN BERWICK

Sullivan dominated on the hill as a junior and earned Eastern Independen­t League baseball MVP honors after posting a 4-1 record with a 1.29 earned-run average and two saves. He also batted .339 and had eight RBI. A three-time EIL All-Star, Sullivan also plays golf at Berwick. Academical­ly, he has twice received cum laude on the National Latin exam.

MATT TABOR MILTON ACADEMY

The dominant pitcher in the state, the senior right-hander went 4-0 with a 0.60 ERA. Tabor fanned 75 and walked just eight batters in 42 innings. Tabor was drafted in the third round — 82nd overall — by the Arizona Diamondbac­ks in the recent Major League Baseball draft. Barring signing with Arizona, he will play baseball at Elon University in the fall.

ZOE WEISS GANN ACADEMY

The senior captain was the Independen­t Girls Conference MVP in tennis, helping her team go undefeated in the league during the regular season. An IGC and NEPSAC volleyball player, she captained that team to an undefeated league season as well. The recipient of the NCWIT Award for aspiration­s in computing, Weiss plays violin in the school ensemble. She will attend Brown University in the fall.

SAM WELSH CONCORD ACADEMY

Welsh broke the Concord Academy discus (190-1) and shot put (51-9) records in his first year participat­ing in track and field on his way to Eastern Independen­t League MVP honors. The junior earned NEPSAC All-Star honors for the discus. Welsh is the co-leader of both the Entreprene­urship and Big Data clubs.

CJ WHITE PINGREE

The senior goalie saved 60 percent of the shots he faced to earn Eastern Independen­t League MVP and US Lacrosse All-America honors for the second time. He was named team MVP and helped Pingree win the New England Small School Championsh­ip with a six-save shutout in the final. White had a career save percentage of .750 and will play lacrosse at Hobart College next season.
