JOHN & EMILY’S ‘PLACE’

-

There’s a hard release date for “A Quiet Place,” so commence the countdown until we can cherish Hollywood’s cutest couple, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, as they co-star in their first film together.

“A Quiet Place” is full of firsts for Krasinski, not only because he’ll be working alongside his wife, but also because it will be his debut directorial venture with a major studio. The Newton native, best known for his role as lovable prankster Jim Halpert on “The Office,” has also worked on writing the supernatural thriller, the plot of which remains under wraps.

What’s no longer hush-hush: The film’s production — which is headed up by Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller of Platinum Dunes, as well as Krasinski with his own company, Sunday Night — kicks off this fall. And now we know it will hit theaters on April 6.

That gives Krasinski time to recuperate from his last project, the upcoming TV series “Jack Ryan,” which just ended its filming.

The show is based on Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and it follows a novice CIA analyst, who’s played by Krasinski, dealing with his first risky field assignment. Through it, Ryan discovers a pattern in terrorist communication, entangling him in a major terrorist scheme with the potential for global destruction.

His British babe of a wife has been busy in her own right. Blunt has been bestowed the honor of playing Mary Poppins in the upcoming and long-overdue sequel to the 1964 film. In “Mary Poppins Returns,” Blunt is taking her umbrella and breathing new life into the role that was originally the feature film debut for the beloved Julie Andrews. The film — whose cast also includes Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury and Poppins vet Dick Van Dyke — is now in post-production and is slated to hit theaters Dec. 25, 2018.

Blunt is also currently working on the animated movie, “Gnomeo & Juliet: Sherlock Gnomes.” She’s once again lending her voice for the character of Juliet, starring opposite James McAvoy, aka Gnome. In this sequel of sorts, Gnomeo and Juliet request the help of Sherlock Gnomes, played by Johnny Depp, to solve the case of missing garden gnomes in London.

Because nothing says creative like jamming two literary allusions into one plot.
