Time to choose your future with Bay State Tech

-

If you’re tired of deadend jobs, lousy pay and no advancement, it’s time to do something about it. It’s time to get out of that rut and get moving in the right direction. It’s time to do something for YOU!

You want a job that pays well, is stable, encourages advancement in the field, and doesn’t need a degree from a college. According to both the HVACR industry and the U.S. Department of Labor, a career as a HVACR Technician is a home run!

A new study commissioned by the HVACR Workforce Development Foundation found that the industry that provides heating and cooling and environmental safety is on the cusp of being severely affected by a crisis in the supply of technicians and mechanics to install and maintain the life-saving and comfort-creating equipment that people everywhere depend on every day. Employers in the Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration (HVACR) industry have serious concerns; they cannot fill the jobs that exist today in the HVACR industry. And when they project their need for workers into the next decade, by any measure they are confronting an escalating employment crisis.

It makes sense to choose an industry where jobs are plenty, and HVACR is it. In addition, these jobs cannot be outsourced. An HVACR problem cannot be resolved by someone on the phone from overseas — a real person needs to examine and work on the unit. This could be you!

Just look at what the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Outlook Handbook says: Median pay: $45,910 No degree needed No work in a related occupation needed

Job growth: 14 percent, much faster than the average

Need more good news? You can be trained to be an entry-level HVACR tech in less than a year’s time. Bay State School of Technology uses a time-tested “Hands-on” approach to your training. What you learn in the classroom in the morning, you put to use in the shop or lab in the afternoon, working with real units like you’ll find in the field.

The future belongs to those still willing to get their hands dirty. Is that you?

Bay State School of Technology offers a variety of programs that lead to new careers. Bay State’s Domestic Refrigeration/Air Conditioning course covers the basics of refrigeration theory in terms of home refrigerators and air conditioners, freezers and dehumidifiers.

You will learn about all the major components in refrigeration products and how to diagnose problems using schematic diagrams and course-supplied compound gauges. In addition, we will prepare you for EPA 608 (commonly known as Freon Recovery) and PSA on-site testing and certification.

Commercial HVACR will immerse you in the basics of larger refrigeration and cooling units, ductless split systems, electronic controls, ice machines, heat pump systems and more. You will sharpen your skills from Domestic Refrigeration to diagnose and repair larger refrigeration systems using diagrams, gauges, recovery equipment and brazing skills. This program also provides you with 100 hours of Massachusetts Refrigeration Code and 150 hours of Massachusetts Electrical Codes.

In our Electronics Technician program, you’ll be able to work with circuits, transistors, and computer and networking components as well as other electronic devices in order to prepare you for a wide variety of jobs related to electronics.
