Police were hunting a suspected illegal immigrant yesterday in connection with an “unattended death” early Sunday in Milford, according to Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

A warrant was issued for Jusselo D. Dos Reis, 42, who is charged with aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in relation to the Milford incident, Early’s office said in a statement.

Dos Reis is described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes and is believing to be driving a black, 2003 Ford Explorer with Massachusetts registration 7JN555, authorities said.

The Department of Homeland Security informed law enforcement that Dos Reis, believed to be from Brazil, is thought to have entered the United States illegally “without inspection,” Early’s office said, adding he lost his wallet in Milford and may be seeking replacement documents or using false ones.

Milford police responded shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday to a home on North Bow Street in Milford and reported finding the bloodcovered body of a man in the first-floor apartment. Early’s office has described the incident as an “unattended death,” and no additional details have been released about the victim or how he died.

Neighbors reported hearing a “loud, heated argument” in the middle of the night, according to published reports.

Anyone who has seen Dos Reis or has information on the case is urged to call Milford police at 508-473-1113 or State Police Troop C Headquarters at 508-829-8326.
