Cowboys looking into latest Elliott incident

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said yesterday the team is still gathering details over Ezekiel Elliott’s involvemen­t in an altercatio­n at a Dallas bar, the latest offfield incident for the star running back.

Elliott, who was already facing a potential suspension over the NFL’s investigat­ion of a year-old domestic case, was involved in a dispute Sunday night that led to a man getting punched in the nose and being taken to a hospital. Dallas police said the 30-year-old man didn’t know who punched him, and the report does not mention Elliott. Dallas police also are investigat­ing the incident.

Jones said he didn’t want to speculate about a possible suspension. An NFL spokesman said the league is looking into the latest incident “to understand the facts.” One of Elliott’s representa­tives didn’t return a message seeking comment. . . .

Detroit Lions defensive end Armonty Bryant has been suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. He can return to the active roster on Oct. 2.

B’s sign Czarnik

The Bruins signed forward Austin Czarnik to a one-year, two-way contract worth $675,000. Czarnik scored five goals and had eight assists in 49 games for the Bruins last season.

The 24-year-old also played 22 games for AHL Providence.

The Miami of Ohio product was originally signed by the B’s in March 2015. . . .

The San Jose Sharks re-signed restricted free agent forward Marcus Sorensen to a two-year contract. . . .

Nashville Predators forward Pontus Aberg signed a two-year contract worth $1.3 million. According to terms of the deal, Aberg will make $650,000 each of the next two seasons.

Matthews sprints stage win

Michael Matthews won a sprint to the line on Stage 16 of the Tour de France as Britain’s Chris Froome kept the race leader’s yellow jersey ahead of two difficult days in the Alps.

Former middleweig­ht boxing champion Jermain Taylor has been arrested after allegedly biting a woman’s arm and face, and threatenin­g to kill her.

Police in the Little Rock, Ark., suburb of Maumelle say the 38-year-old Taylor was arrested at his home about 3 a.m. yesterday. He was later released. Court records do not show that charges have been filed.
