MAISIE’S NORTH END NOSHES
Try to contain your excitement: Maisie Williams, aka Arya Stark on “Game of Thrones,” has apparently become a North End regular.
We’re told Williams has popped into North Square Oyster a halfdozen times over the past month. She’s munched on composed oysters, crudo and French onion soup cooked up by chef Douglas Rodriguez.
The diminutive, 20-year-old Brit hit up the local eatery last month with actors Charlie Heaton and Natalia Dyer from “Stranger Things.” More recently, she was with her not-so-famous boyfriend/ school chum Ollie Jackson, who was visiting from the West Coast. They’re said to have shared a cozy booth on the second floor of the restaurant, and Maisie posed for pics with fellow diners as the couple made their exit.
The resident shape-shifting assassin on “Game of Thrones” is one of several young actors hanging around Boston this summer to film the latest spinoff in the X-Men franchise: “New Mutants.”
Henry Zaga, who’s starred in “13 Reasons Why,” shared an Instagram pic of him, Maisie and Heaton all posing in a Boston building stairwell. Also tagged in the photo, although unseen, was Blu Hunt of “The Originals.”
With the exception of Ms. Williams, several of the Hollywood sightseers are cast members of the Marvel- meets- Fox flick in the making: Zaga is starring as Sunspot, Williams as Wolfsbane, Heaton as Cannonball, and Hunt as Dani Moonstar.
Production reportedly kicked off July 10, with Josh Boone, who previously directed “Fault in Our Stars,” at the helm. Boone co-wrote the “New Mutants” script with Knate Lee, and they’re promising a “very, very different” take on the profitable franchise.
“We are making a fullfledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe,” Boone told Entertainment Weekly in May. “There are no costumes. There are no supervillains.”
The “New Mutants” series (as true comic fans know) was created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod in the ’80s. It revolves around Professor X , who recruits a new group of youthful mutant students because he thinks the X-Men were dead.
The movie is slated to hit theaters April 13. Meanwhile, Williams, Zaga and the rest of the youthful “New Mutants” gang are supposed to be sticking around town for the next few months. Send us snaps if you lay eyes on any of ’em.
