Clowning doesn’t pay as prank leads to bust

- By BRIAN DOWLING

A drunk, one-armed clown with a machete duct-taped to his stump was arrested for making threats as he meandered down a small-town road in Maine wearing a black hoodie, cops said.

Maine State Police told WCSH-TV that 31-year-old Corey Berry of Hollis was arrested Tuesday and charged with criminal threatening. He was released after posting $200 bail.

Police were called Tuesday evening for a report of a masked man in a black hoodie walking down Plains Road and then running into the woods, the local TV news station reported.

After more concerned citizens called in clown sightings, a trooper tracked Berry to Waterboro. Berry was found with a machete duct-taped to his amputated arm. He told police he was trying to play a prank that copied previous creepy clown sightings.
