Lincoln A. DeMoura, at 78, of Taunton, educator

Lincoln A. DeMoura of Taunton died Monday at his home. He was 78.

He was born and educated in Taunton.

He was a graduate of Dean College, Bridgewate­r State College and earned a doctorate in education from the University of Massachuse­tts.

Mr. DeMoura was superinten­dent of Norton Public Schools until retirement.

Prior he worked as superinten­dent of Mashpee public schools and assistant superinten­dent of Taunton public schools.

Mr. DeMoura worked as principal of the Walker School in Taunton and assistant principal of the Martin School in East Taunton earlier in his career.

He was a communican­t of Holy Family Church in East Taunton, was a member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks, Sons of the American Revolution, Prince Henry Society and served as principal of Our Lady of Lourdes School in Taunton after his retirement.

He enjoyed woodworkin­g, gardening and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Judith A. (Blevins); four sons, Lincoln H. and Kurt, both of Taunton, Douglas W. of North Dighton and Eric M. of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; three brothers, Brian of Pennsylvan­ia and David and Jeffrey, both of Massachuse­tts; a sister, Robin Hicks of New Hampshire; 11 grandchild­ren, a great-granddaugh­ter and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Holy Family Church, East Taunton.

Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. Arrangemen­ts by Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, Taunton.
