Website sings GOP praises
Discouraged Republicans are ripping a page out of President Trump’s playbook by creating their own website and social media campaign in a much-needed attempt to tune out CNN.
It’s called #DIDYOUKNOW? on Twitter and didyouknow.gop on the web. The website comes complete with a marketing video selling constituents on what a great job they are doing in D.C. — despite what’s being shown on CNN.
Re - tweeter- in- chief Trump realized the power of social media long ago and he’s yet to give it up. He slams talking heads on cable news and now Republicans are finally following along.
The website reads, “House Republicans aren’t distracted by the newest countdown clock on cable news or partisan sniping in Washington, D.C.
“You don’t care about those things,” it goes on to say.
“You care about finding a good job, taking care of your family, and achieving the American Dream, and so do we.”
The House GOP website defends Trump against the harsh media coverage, saying the focus on the Russian investigation is distracting viewers away from all their legislative work.
“House Republicans are focused on what matters to you,” they say on the web.
Political consultant Patrick Griffin thinks this is a winning strategy for the party.
“It could resonate with the base. There are a group of people from the conservative wing of the party, with some merit, that believe the mainstream media is editorializing the general news coverage. Like Trump does on Twitter, it’s time to put the puppy back on the paper,” he told me.
“The party wants to correct the media and ignore them and bypass them.”
Griffin added the smart folks at the GOP realize the future of communicating is on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and whatever social media platform gets hot next.
“Who cares what CNN says?” he added.
But Republicans do have an achievement gap problem.
For seven years they have been promising they would repeal and replace Obamacare. Now they have a president who supports the idea and they still can’t get it done.
Conservative congressmen and women realize if they don’t start promoting their achievements and slamming the media for ignoring the little work they have achieved, it could mean a bloodbath come the midterms.
