Shawn P. Demenkow, 47, Wakefield native, Marine

Shawn P. Demenkow a Wakefield native and a retired Marine, died Aug. 8 at home in Maysville, N.C. He was 47.

Mr. Demenkow was born and raised in Wakefield.

He was a 1989 graduate of N.E. Metro Regional Vocational School in Wakefield.

He enlisted in the military after high school and served for 24 years in the Marine Corps until his retirement as a master sergeant in 2014.

Mr. Demenkow was a craftsman who enjoyed creating things in his shop, where he worked for long hours on welding and wood working projects.

He also enjoyed nature, his land in Maine, riding the quads with his parents, fishing with the boys, playing endlessly with his three cats and panning for gold with his wife.

Mr. Demenkow is survived by his wife, Anne (Wallace); two sons, Timothy and Andrew; a sister, Victoria Lee of Tucker, Ga.; his parents Barbara (Dickenson) Hallstrom of Sebago, Maine, and Paul of North Reading; his stepparent­s, Robert Hallstrom of Sebago, Maine and Frances (Ahern) of North Reading; a stepsister, Jennifer (Reboulet) McDonald of Wakefield; two stepbrothe­rs, Scott Reboulet of Wakefield and Stephen Reboulet of Townsend; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Incarnatio­n Church, Melrose.

Interment will be in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
