Designer takes Cue to open fashion showroom

- By ERICA CORSANO — erica.corsano@bostonherald.com The Cue, 12 Ericsson St., Dorchester, 857-939-0427.

Lindsay Tia Reilly is a woman on a fashionable mission. The 26-year-old learned to sew when she was 6 and by the age of 14 was selling her accessories in a family friend's salon. The Lasell College grad now has an eponymous, American-made handbag line and recently added showroom owner to her resume. The space, called The Cue, is a third-floor loft “style lounge.” Reilly uses it to style professionals with her curated selection of duds and to host small styling events for men and women. We recently caught up with the young entrepreneur to learn more and get her top trend picks for fall.

Tell me about your new showroom/retail concept. What exactly do you do there and who is your target audience?

The retail space is the product of years of feedback from my customers that have supported Lindsay Tia along the way, telling me they really desired a place where they can touch and feel the brand, where they could come in and look at the various options available to them.

Our concept is different than your traditional retail shop. We're a “style lounge” in a third-floor loft space. Targeting and styling the trendy professionals with our “boardroom to barroom” fashions. Trends, custom clothing and fashion pieces you can wear from the office to your events at night!

What is your top piece of advice for women who are trying to define their style, be on trend but also be true to themselves?

Wear timeless looks with trendy accessories that match their personality.

What are your top wardrobe picks for fall?

This fall we're in love with the texture looks. From trendy sweaters and leather skirts to a fun pair of bottoms with a blouse. We picked looks we could help style for that dress-up look or casual work or weekend attire.

How did you get into fashion?

I got into fashion at a young age — there were too many influences to avoid it, to be honest — I was fortunate that the ladies in my family were fashionable, stylish and, most importantly, carried themselves a certain way. I was eager to emulate that, and now many years later, I get the opportunity to pass that on to a new set of ladies (and some men), while doing what I love, and staying an active part of the “girl boss” movement.

What is stylish at any age? The perfect dress — a piece that can be dressed up or dressed down. It's better to be overdressed than underdressed.
