HELP FOR HOUSTON:
Lots of celebs have stepped up to the plate to help the Houston victims of Hurricane Harvey — from Kevin Hart's donation chain, in which he urged famous pals to pitch in $25,000 each, to Chris Young's GoFundMe page for the cause. Solange Knowles just rolled up her metaphorical sleeves, announcing a benefit show Sept. 28 in Boston, with proceeds going to Hurricane Harvey relief. Variety reported the singer will be joined by the Sun Ra Arkestra at Boston's Orpheum Theatre for a performance called “Orion's Rise.” “I'm committed to partnering with organizations on the ground in Houston and making contributions to uplift the city that raised me with so much love,” she posted on Insta.
MOORE, THE MERRIER: Julianne Moore is having a moment — and it's a pretty good one, too. The Boston University grad is heading to the Venice Film Festival, where her George Clooney-directed “Suburbicon” premieres this weekend. And on Nov. 13, the Museum of Modern Art's 2017 Film Benefit is throwing a gala benefit to honor the actress. According to Deadline, the tribute dinner is hosted by Chanel, so expect some offthe-hook looks.
ALL HE KNOWS: Singer/author Art Garfunkel is kicking off a book tour for the Sept. 26 release of his memoir “What Is It All But Luminous: Notes From An Underground Man.” The folk music icon chronicles his life before, during and after performing as half the groundbreaking duo with Paul Simon, his work as an actor, and much more. Garfunkel will make a stop at the Brattle Theatre on Sept. 27, in conversation with Jared Bowen. Tickets are $28.75, which includes a pre-signed book. www.harvard.com/ event/art_garfunkel.
