MINDY’S BABY DADDY MYSTERY
The father of Cambridge-raised Mindy Kaling’s baby is still under wraps, but that doesn’t mean the star and creator of “The Mindy Project” isn’t going to keep us wondering. “My professional life is the only thing that I feel I have a lot of control over — romantic stuff is a little bit more mysterious,” the 38-year-old mother-to-be said in the September issue of American Way magazine. “I think a lot of women respond to that,” she added. On the professional front, Kaling indeed leaves no room for doubt or intrigue: She’s crushing it. Just yesterday, the trailer for the sixth and final season of “The Mindy Project” debuted. The show, which kicks off on Hulu Sept. 12, will pick up right after Dr. Mindy Lahiri’s surprise wedding to nurse boyfriend Ben, played by Bryan Greenberg. The trailer hints that the newlywed’s relationship might be off to a rocky start. And with old flame/obvious soulmate Danny Castellano confirmed to reappear this season, all of us fans can only hope a reconnection will occur. Real-life Mindy’s love life, as previously mentioned, is equally as questionable, especially when it comes to who the heck could be Kaling’s baby daddy. “The Office” alum hasn’t been romantically linked to anyone since 2012 — as far as the public knows, anyway. In March, U.S. Sen. Cory Booker and Kaling had our eyes glued to Twitter when they flirted with one another on the social media site, with Booker ultimately asking Kaling out. We’re not sure if she ever took him up on that offer. Then, there’s Newton native B.J. Novak, Kaling’s former co-star on “The Office.” The pair had been a thing back in the mid-2000s, with their on-again, off-again relationship mimicking that of their characters Ryan Howard and Kelly Kapoor. Although they’re still seen getting cozy together in public, that’s because they’ve remained supposedly just friends since their split 12 years ago. So when Kaling says the “romantic stuff is a little bit more mysterious,” she wasn’t kidding. You’re killing us, Kaling.
