Once Danny Abraham turned it on, Marshfield had no answer.

For the second consecutive week Abraham showcased why he is one of the top running backs in the state as he ran for a pair of touchdowns to lead BC High to a 19-7 win over Marshfield at Viola Stadium.

Abraham has scored six touchdowns through two games. Joining him on the ground attack for the Eagles (2-0) was quarterback Will Bowen (13 carries, 131 yards, one TD) and Bobby DeMeo. The three combined for 220 yards rushing.

“It’s great having those two other options,” Abraham said. “Having Bowen and Bobby allows us to keep other teams off-balance and make the other team think we have multiple guys that can beat them.”

Leading 13-7 at halftime, the Eagles came out and seized all the momentum.

BC High went on an 11play, 64-yard drive capped off by a 2-yard touchdown run by Abraham to increase the Eagles lead to 19-7.

A 27-yard completion on third-and-7 from Bowen to Luke Murphy kept the drive alive.

Marshfield had one last chance with less than four minutes remaining inside the BC High 40-yard line, but Murphy broke up a pass on fourth-and-long to turn the Rams over on downs.

“We talked at halftime how there were some missed opportunities,” BC High coach John Bartlett said. “But we got right back up, recovered, and brought our physicality in the second half.”

Marshfield jumped out in front late in the first quarter as Casey Phinney capped off a 10-play drive with a 5-yard touchdown run to give the Rams a 7-0 lead.

The lead did not last long, however, because on the Eagles next possession Bowen kept the ball on a read option and took it the distance for a 55-yard touchdown run to even the game at 7-7.

After a bad snap on a Marshfield punt gave BC High great field position in Rams territory, the Eagles grabbed their first lead of the game. Abraham took the handoff, cut back inside, made a pair of defensive backs miss and ran into the end zone for a 36-yard score, giving BC High its six-point edge at intermission.
