SOLD-OUT SHOOTOUT
Oh, shoot: Ex-Patriots offensive tackle Matt Light is hosting his annual Celebrity Shootout fundraiser tomorrow, and it's sold out.
The three-time Super Bowl champ turned entrepreneur has rallied a troop of notable names — including athletes, chefs and actors — to turn up for the eating and sporting extravaganza at Addieville East Farm in Mapleville, R.I.
On this year's guest list: Former Patriots Rob Ninkovich, Sebastian Vollmer, Troy Brown, Niko Koutouvides, Logan Mankins and Joe Andruzzi; famed local chefs Steve DiFillippo (Davio’s), Anthony Caturano (Prezza and Tonno), Evan Deluty (Stella), Tim Reading (Alta Strada), Andrea Schnell (Sorelle) and Kevin Des Chenes; World Champion Shooter Max Michel; Olympic figure skater Simon Shnapir and Olympic snowboarder Scotty Lago; and actor Kevin Chapman.
And let's not forget the event's master of ceremonies, our local funny man Lenny Clarke.
The center of Light's festivities is, of course, the sporting clays competition where 72 teams will compete for prizes. For those of you who aren't shooting-savvy, that's when people aim their guns at ceramic pigeons that are tossed into the air in an attempt to hit them and make them explode.
Firearm-free guests will also be partaking in a variety of outdoor activities, like fly fishing, archery and America's other pastime, eating.
In addition to the army of aforementioned chefs who will be on the grounds to cook for the crowd, local food trucks Baby’s Bonetown BBQ and O’Crepe will be keeping the folks on the course full with their mobile bites.
About 475 people will attend the sold-out Matt Light Celebrity Shootout, now in its 13th year. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Light Foundation, which offers academic scholarships and programs for at-risk youth during their formative years. The Shootout's funds also go toward the foundation's Camp Vohokase in Greenville, Ohio, and the foundation's New England student leadership conference.
