A TOP-SECRET SNEAK PEEK

Amazon gives quick first glimpse of Newton’s Krasinski in ‘Jack Ryan’

-

Amazon has finally given us a taste of John Krasinski in its upcoming series “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.” It was incredibly short, but it was intensely sweet — and now, we want more.

The Newton native is playing the titular character — an honor that, in the film world, has previously been bestowed upon A-listers like Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Chris Pine and fellow local Ben Affleck. And in the latest teaser for the series, we get a first glimpse at Krasinski in all his CIA glory, uttering a single, tough-guy line.

“All of the accounts link back to this phone. We know who you are,” a stone-faced Krasinski/ Ryan says to two terrorists, after a group of agents drag them in from the street for interrogation.

OK, so it’s admittedly not a long look. But it’s just enough to let us know that this isn’t the same Krasinski who stole our hearts as adorable prankster Jim Halpert on “The Office.”

In the eight hourlong episodes that comprise the Amazon series, Clancy’s famous character is on his first major field assignment when he becomes entangled in uberterrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.

The case of the series also boasts Wendell Pierce, of “The Wire,” “Treme” and “Suits” fame, as well as Australian actress Abbie Cornish. Carlton Cuse, who helped produce “Lost,” serves as executive producer on “Ryan,” alongside Krasinski, Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes and Skydance Media.

We might not have to wait long before we can get another helping of Krasinski/Ryan. The actor will be gathering with Cuse, Pierce and Cornish at New York Comic Con this Saturday, and they’ll be sharing another preview with the public.

Meantime, we have to sit tight and wait for the Amazon series to premiere on Prime Video at some point in 2018.
