CUT THE HALL’S HUB SNUB

-

“Love Stinks” — and so does being nominated year after year to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, only to have glory slip away. The J. Geils Band is up for the fifth time, joining fellow Hubsters The Cars on the return nomination ride — this will mark the “Magic” band’s third go-round.

Geils’ harmonica player Magic Dick Salwitz told Billboard last year, “It’s great to be recognized, but it’s a drag to be disappointed. I hope that we make it in. That would be great.”

Maybe it was a “Funky Judge,” but 2016 wasn’t the charm for J. Geils, nor The Cars, who had to say “Bye Bye Love” to the accolade as well.

Any Bostonian who blared “Must of Got Lost” and/or “Just What I Needed” full blast while cruising the Pike (you know who you are) has a chance to make things right. While an international voting body of more than 900 artists, historians and members of the music biz will get ballots, this year fans will again have the opportunity to move the needle.

Until 11:59 p.m. EST on Dec. 5, fans can visit rockhall.com/ vote to cast votes for who they believe to be most deserving of induction.

The top five artists selected will comprise a “fans’ ballot” that will be tallied along with the other votes to choose the 2018 inductees.

Fans will need to log in with a Facebook account or email to vote, and one ballot per day is allowed. The list of 2018 inductees will be announced in December.

It’s All You Can Do.
