FBI seeks public’s help in finding robbery suspect
The FBI is turning to the public for help identifying a brazen serial bank robber they’ve dubbed the “Route 128 Bandit” after he stuck up tellers at 10 branches, many in cities and towns along the Bay State highway.
The bandit is believed to be in his 30s or 40s, and is described as being of medium height with dark eyes, and medium build and weight. Officials say in each of the 10 robberies — eight successful and two attempted — the man wore a long-sleeved shirt and a dark baseball hat. In many instances, he carried a backpack.
Investigators say each time he approached a teller with a note and threatened to have a weapon. The FBI, however, doesn’t consider him armed and dangerous.
After his first attempted robbery at the Citizens Bank in Cambridge on June 3, authorities say he’s suspected in a string of follow-up heists.

• Oct. 6, Citizens Bank in Cambridge and Bank of America in Bedford.
