Roy L. Slocum, Army vet, resident of Stoneham, 79

Roy Lee Slocum of Stoneham, an Army veteran, died Saturday in Wakefield. He was 79.

He was born in Arlington.

He was a retired sheet metal worker and a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 17 for 55 years.

Mr. Slocum was a longtime coach and board member of Stoneham Girls Hockey Association.

He enjoyed visiting casinos in the Northeast.

Husband of the late Jerilyn (Pronovost), he is survived by three daughters, Sharon L. Gendron, Tiffany M. and Holly A. Sweeney; a sister, Dorothy Casassa; a brother, Charles; and four grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at AndersonBryant Funeral Home, Stoneham.
