A 28-year-old man who works with children at an after-school program in Waltham has been charged by Foxboro police with multiple counts of child rape.

John B. Quinn, 28, of Foxboro was arraigned in Wrentham District Court yesterday on six counts of aggravated rape of a child and six counts of rape of a child with force, according to Norfolk District Attorney William Morrissey’s office.

Judge Thomas L. Finigan set bail at $5,000, which Quinn posted.

Quinn worked for an afterschool program at Plympton Elementary, which is run by the company KinderCare. That company released a statement saying he had been removed from the program and placed on administrative leave.

“This afternoon we learned that John Quinn, a Champions employee at Plympton Elementary, was arrested on charges of child rape,” the statement reads. “We take all concerns about our teachers and staff seriously and follow a very specific protocol anytime a concern is raised.”

The program said Quinn has been reported to state licensing officials and the Department of Children and Families. The Waltham school superintendent could not be reached after hours.

Foxboro police obtained a Wrentham District Court arrest warrant on Wednesday, then arrested Quinn during a motor vehicle stop in that town shortly after the warrant was issued.

After Quinn posted bail, he was placed on GPS monitoring, prosecutors said.

Quinn is also ordered to stay away and have no contact with the child, the child’s minor siblings, and the child’s mother. He is forbidden to have contact with anyone under the age of 18, and he is barred from employment or volunteer work with minors. The probation department must approve of any job for which he is hired while the charges are pending.
