No. 1 ’Bama extends run

Damien Harris opened with a 75-yard touchdown run and No. 1 Alabama rode a fast start to a 41-9 victory against Arkansas last night in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The Crimson Tide (7-0, 4-0 SEC) had raced to a 17-0 start by midway through the first quarter before the Razorbacks (2-4, 0-3) managed to slow down the onslaught for a while.

Harris ran for 125 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries. His run on the first offensive play produced a lead just 15 seconds in.

Georgia 53, Missouri 28 — In Athens, Ga., Sony Michel ran for two touchdowns as the No. 4 Bulldogs (7-0, 4-0 SEC) found their running game after a slow start to the tune of 370 yards on the ground and took control with 26 unanswered points to top the Tigers (1-5, 0-4)

TCU 26, Kansas St. 6 — In Manhattan, Kan., Kenny Hill threw for 297 yards and ran for a score, Sewo Olonilua added two short touchdown runs and the defense shut down an ailing offense as the No. 6 Horned Frogs (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) posted a weather-delayed win against the Wildcats (3-3, 1-2).

Wisconsin 17, Purdue 9 — In Madison, Wis., Jonathan Taylor ran for 219 yards on 30 carries, including a 67-yard touchdown dash, and the No. 7 Badgers (6-0, 3-0 Big) relied on a stifling, timely defense to overcome three turnovers and a blocked punt to beat the Boilermake­rs (3-3, 1-2).

Ohio St. 56, Nebraska 14 — In Lincoln, Neb., J.T. Barrett passed for five touchdowns and ran for two, and the No. 9 Buckeyes (6-1, 4-0 Big Ten) scored on their first eight possession­s on the way to a fourth straight 50-plus point game, this time in a win against the Cornhusker­s (3-4, 2-2).

LSU 27, Auburn 23 — In Baton Rouge, La., D.J. Chark returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown, Connor Culp kicked field goals of 42 and 36 yards inside the final three minutes, and LSU (5-2, 2-1 SEC) rallied from 20 points down to defeat No. 10 Auburn (5-2, 3-1) in the Tilt of Tigers.

Miami 25, Ga. Tech 24 — In Miami Gardens, Fla., Darrell Langham’s catch on a tipped fourth-down ball kept a desperate drive alive and set up Michael Badgley’s 24-yard field goal with 4 seconds left as the No. 11 Hurricanes (5-0, 3-0 ACC) rallied past the Yellow Jackets (3-2, 2-1).

Oklahoma 29, Texas 24 — In Dallas, Baker Mayfield threw a 59yard pass to Mark Andrews for the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter after the No. 12 Sooners (51, 2-1 Big 12) had blown a 20-point lead, and they held off the Longhorns (3-3, 2-1).

USC 28, Utah 27 — In Los Angeles, Sam Darnold led three long scoring drives in the second half to rally his team, and the No. 13 Trojans (6-1, 4-1 Pac-12) stopped a two-point conversion attempt by the Utes (4-2, 1-2) with 42 seconds to play to secure the win.

Oklahoma St. 59, Baylor 16 — In Stillwater, Okla., Mason Rudolph passed for 459 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another to lead the offense to a school-record 747 yards, and the No. 14 Cowboys (5-1, 2-1 Big 12) routed the Bears (0-6, 0-3).

Michigan 27, Indiana 20 — In Bloomingto­n, Ind., Karan Higdon ran 25 yards for a touchdown on the first play of overtime for the No. 17 Wolverines (5-1, 1-1 Big Ten) and Tyree Kinnel intercepte­d a fourth-down pass on the final play to snuff out the Hoosiers (3-3, 0-3).

S. Florida 33, Cincinnati 3 — In Tampa, dual-threat Quinton Flowers eclipsed 3,000 yards career rushing and had a touchdown to help the No. 18 Bulls (6-0, 3-0 American) extend the nation’s longest winning streak to 11 by beating the Bearcats (2-5, 0-3).

N.C. State 35, Pitt 17 — Nyheim Hines ran for an 83-yard touchdown and returned a punt 92 yards for a score on his way to 249 total yards to help the No. 20 Wolfpack (6-1, 4-0 ACC) remain perfect in the conference with the win against the host Panthers (2-5, 0-3).

Michigan St. 30, Minnesota 27 — In Minneapoli­s, L.J. Scott returned from an injury to rush for a careerhigh 194 yards and two touchdowns, helping the No. 21 Spartans (5-1, 3-0 Big Ten) escape with the win against the Golden Gophers (3-3, 0-3).

C. Florida 63, E. Carolina 21 — In Orlando, Fla., McKenzie Milton threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score, and the No. 22 Knights (5-0, 3-0 American) also got touchdowns on defense and special teams to blow out the Pirates (1-6, 1-3).

W. Virginia 46, Texas Tech 35 — In Morgantown, W. Va., Will Grier threw four of his five touchdown passes in the second half and the Mountainee­rs (4-2, 2-1 Big 12) rallied late from 18 points down to beat the No. 24 Red Raiders (4-2, 1-2).

Memphis 30, Navy 27 — Riley Ferguson threw three touchdown passes and the host Tigers (5-1, 2-1 American) took advantage of five turnovers to top the No. 25 Midshipmen (5-1, 3-1).
