Gilbert goals boost Brookline
Esther Gilbert went on the offensive for the Brookline girls soccer team yesterday, scoring four goals in a 6-0 blowout of Norwood in the Bay State Conference. With the win, the Warriors improved to 11-1-4.
In the Catholic Central League, Katelyn Botte scored a hat trick to lead Marian (5-54) past Pope John, 4-1.
In the Merrimack Valley Conference, Danielle Maguire scored her third goal in two games as North Andover (13-3) blanked Dracut, 2-0.
Abigail Reardon and Anna Tempestoso each scored twice to propel Oliver Ames (11-6-0) to a 4-0 victory against Taunton in the Hockomock League.
Emma Tucker’s two goals pushed Notre Dame of Hingham (11-3-1) past Austin Prep, 2-1, in nonleague play.
Boys soccer
Michael Jones posted a hat trick, propelling unbeaten Wayland (9-0-2) to a 4-0 shutout of Bedford in a Dual County League matchup.
In the Bay State Conference, Ben Caplan scored the game-winner as Brookline (75-5) edged Norwood, 2-1.
Ben Shumway scored a pair of goals as Dedham (5-102) defeated Bellingham, 4-1, in the Tri-Valley League.
Field hockey
Laura Mendell registered the only goal of the game with four minutes remaining, giving Dartmouth (83-5) a 1-0 victory against Bridgewater-Raynham in an Old Colony League thriller.
Maeve Murphy scored to lead Scituate (13-3-1) past Plymouth South, 1-0, in the Patriot League.
Abbey Otterbein’s hat trick led Beverly (12-3) by Marblehead, 3-1, in the Northeastern Conference.
Girls volleyball
Jean-Marie Fallon posted 18 kills and 14 service points as Milton (10-8) swept past Bay State Conference foe Braintree, 3-0.
