Frederick H. Baldwin Sr., formerly of Tewksbury

Frederick Henry Baldwin Sr. of York, Maine, formerly of Tewksbury, a World War II veteran and business owner, died Thursday at home. He was 96.

He was born in Chelsea, raised in Medford and was a 1939 graduate of Medford High School. He had lived in Tewksbury for more than 60 years.

Mr. Baldwin served in the Army Air Forces during World War II.

He owned and operated the former Tewksbury Paint & Hardware Store until retirement in 1986.

Mr. Baldwin was past president of the Tewksbury Lions Club and was involved in the Tewksbury Golden Age Club and the Senior Walk In Center where he performed as a drummer in the band, the Silvertone­s.

He and his wife were active members and supporters of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Low- ell, where he served as a vestry person for many years.

Mr. Baldwin volunteere­d as a van driver for the Open Pantry of Greater Lowell.

Husband of the late Barbara C. (Beal), he is survived by a daughter, Marcia Foster of York, Maine; three grandchild­ren, three greatgrand­children and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Lowell.

Interment will be in Tewksbury Cemetery.
