Devils score win in Chicago

Miles Wood had three goals for his first career hat trick and added an assist to help the New Jersey Devils rally for a wild 7-5 win over the Blackhawks last night in Chicago.

Rookie Nico Hishier had a goal and two assists, and Andy Green, Taylor Hall and Brian Gibbons also scored for the Metropolit­an Divisionle­ading Devils, who won their second straight after a four-game skid (0-2-2). Keith Kinkaid stopped 39 shots.

Defenseman Jan Rutta had a goal and two assists, Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist, and Artem Anisimov, Tanner Kero and rookie Alex DeBrincat also scored for the Blackhawks, who have lost 3-of-4. Corey Crawford took the loss, allowing six goals on 25 shots before being replaced by Anton Forsberg to start the third period. Forsberg stopped 12 of the 13 shots he faced.

Capitals 2, Oilers 1 — T.J. Oshie scored the only goal of the shootout to give host Washington the win against Edmonton.

Dmitry Orlov scored in regulation for the Capitals and Braden Holtby stopped 29 shots through overtime and all three Edmonton attempts in the shootout.

Jujhar Khaira scored for the Oilers, who finished 2-1-1 on a four-game trip after winning the first two in overtime. Laurent Brossoit, starting just his second game of the season, made 18 saves.

After two scoreless periods, Khaira’s first of the sea- son gave Edmonton a 1-0 lead at 1:32 of the third. Orlov tied it with his first at 5:14.

Lightning 2, Ducks 1 — J.T. Brown scored the tiebreakin­g goal in the third period, leading Tampa Bay to a fourth straight win, against host Anaheim.

Vladislav Namestniko­v also scored for the Lightning and Andrei Vasilevski­y stopped 28 shots to help them avenge one of their only two regulation losses this season.

Jakob Silfverber­g scored the Ducks goal and John Gibson finished with 35 saves.

Brown put the Lightning ahead at 7:18 of the third with his first of the season.

Sharks 2, Kings 1 — Joel Ward scored the tiebreakin­g goal on a long deflection off his skate with 7:10 to play, and San Jose Sharks rallied from a third-period deficit to win in Los Angeles.

Melker Karlsson scored the tying goal early in the third before Ward used his left skate from the faceoff circle to redirect Barclay Goodrow’s shot for his third goal of the season.

The Sharks’ Timo Meier was fined for elbowing the Vancouver Canucks’ Michael Del Zotto on Saturday night.
