KRASINSKI GOES ALL CREEPY

-

We just got our first glimpse of Newton-grown John Krasinski’s upcoming movie, “A Quiet Place,” and it seems every bit as creepy as we expected.

With the release of the flick’s initial trailer, we finally understand why “A Quiet Place” has been dubbed a supernatural thriller — if not a full-blown horror flick. The recent footage features a family of four living in complete and utter silence on a decrepit, isolated farm.

Interspersed among flashes of the family living in mute fear, we see the tagline: “Listen closely, move carefully, and never make a sound. If they can’t hear you, they can’t hunt you.”

The family members try their darnedest to refrain from making a peep. We see them tiptoeing throughout their property, using sign language to communicate with each other and stifling the smallest of sounds while they play Monopoly by using cloth game pieces and rolling dice onto a blanket. But their silence isn’t perfect. The trailer shows the son knock over a lantern, which shatters on the ground and starts a fire. The noisy accident appears to have alerted whatever force they fear, and the family is frantic as their lights flash red and a disturbance can be heard above them.

The trailer is peppered with plenty of chilling imagery: a wooden crucifix on a bridge, demonic-looking gashes on the wall of their house and cornfields.

If Hollywood has taught us anything about the horror genre, it’s that no good ever happens in a cornfield.

Krasinski and his wife, Emily Blunt, both star in “A Quiet Place.” It’s the first time the couple will be seen sharing scenes of a movie together.

The actor is also directing the flick. He wrote the script from a screenplay from Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. Prior to “A Quiet Place,” Krasinski directed “The Hollars” and “Brief Interviews With Hideous Men.”

Michael Bay, alongside his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller,

are producing the movie. Krasinski and his Sunday Night Productions partner Allyson Seeger, as well as Beck and Woods, are executive producers.

Production for the film began earlier this fall, and the crew has been spotted filming throughout upstate New York. Paramount

plans to release the film on April 6.
