Pens beat Bolts, end skid

Sidney Crosby and Phil Kessel each scored twice and the Penguins beat the Tampa Bay Lightning, 5-2, last night in Pittsburgh to end a season-high threegame losing streak.

Tristan Jarry, making his first home start, stopped 33 shots for his first NHL win. He also assisted on the first goal of the game.

The Penguins, playing without Evgeni Malkin, also ended a two-game home regulation losing streak.

Bryan Rust scored a shorthande­d goal, his third of the season for the Pens, who have won 12 of their last 13 at home against Tampa Bay.

Ondrej Palat and Cory Conacher scored for the Bolts, have just five regulation losses but three in the last four games. Peter Budaj made 29 saves.

Capitals 4, Maple Leafs 2 — Alex Ovechkin had a hat trick to lead Washington over host Toronto.

Jakub Vrana also scored, and Braden Holtby made 27 saves. Jake Gardiner and Nikita Zaitsev replied in the third period for Toronto.

Canadiens 3, Sabres 0 — Carey Price made 36 saves for his 40th career shutout in his return from a lowerbody injury and host Montreal blanked Buffalo to snap a five-game losing streak.

Jeff Petry, Alex Galchenyuk and Paul Bryon scored. Robin Lehner made 23 saves for the Sabres, who have lost eight of nine.

Islanders 2, Senators 1 — Anders Lee and Jordan Eberle scored, Jaroslav Halak made 31 saves and New York beat host Ottawa, despite Matt Duchene’s first goal for his new club, for the Isles’ sixth win in the last seven games.

Blackhawks 4, Panthers 1— In Sunrise, Fla., Jonathan Toews had a goal and two assists and Corey Crawford made 37 saves in his 400th NHL game to help Chicago beat Florida.

Devils 4, Red Wings 3 — Brian Gibbons scored with 2:28 left in overtime to give New Jersey the win in Detroit.

Blues 6, Wild 3 — Jaden Schwartz scored twice and Kyle Brodziak added a shorthande­d goal as host St. Louis doubled up Minnesota to improve to an NHL-best 17-6-1.

Golden Knights 4, Coyotes 2 — In Glendale, Ariz., Tomas Nosek, William Karlsson and Erik Haula scored in a 1:42 span of the second period to lift Vegas over Arizona for its fifth straight win.
