GOD OF WINE: Former Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe threw a dinner in Boston last night and he brought wine. The ex-Pat teamed up with Chef Daniel Bruce and the Boston Harbor Hotel to throw a four-course feast at Meritage Restaurant + Wine Bar. Bledsoe offered pairings for each portion of the meal, with all of the wines hailing from his family vineyard, Doubleback. To get the party started, guests sipped 2015 Argyle Brut Rose. They also enjoyed everything from a 2016 Bledsoe Family Cabernet Sauvignon to a 2015 Bledsoe Family Stolen Horse Syrah. The meal wasn't half bad either, with bites of char-seared salmon, shaved Iberico pork belly and cocoa and five spice-rubbed grilled prime ribs with fennel laced potato gnocchi gracing their palates.

THAT’S SMART: While Bledsoe was wining and dining folks on the Waterfront, another one of our hometown sports heroes was playing host in the Back Bay. Celtics guard Marcus Smart fronted “An Evening with Marcus Smart” at Towne Stove and Spirits last night to benefit his YounGameChanger Foundation. Guests were pampered with passed bites and cocktails — the perfect combo to make them reach for their wallets come auction time.

And not that we're stalking Smart — yeah, you know we are — but we also hear that he was at Empire Asian Restaurant & Lounge in the Seaport Tuesday night, when he squired his girlfriend, Maisa Halloum, and the two munched on some rice bites and the tempura rock shrimp roll.
